How To Get Started

Welcome to Headshot Social. This guide covers the path that works today: sign in with a magic link or email + password, build a one-page folio, publish it at your public /{slug} URL, and share that link from email or your Instagram / TikTok bio. Marketplace casting search and paid Premium are not live yet—so we keep the steps honest.

How to Get Started on Headshot Social

You can be live with a public headshot page in a few minutes. Here’s the current product path:

  1. Sign in (or create an account)

    • Visit headshot.social and open “New user” or “Sign-in” (modal on the landing page, or the /signin /signup deep links).
    • Choose Email me a link or Email + password — both are first-class. Magic link: enter your email and open the message we send. Password: Sign in if you already have an account, or Create account with email + password.
    • New accounts are created when you open the magic link or tap Create account—there is no separate email-confirm step, and Google sign-in is not offered.
  2. Build your folio

    • After sign-in you’ll land in profile edit. Add your name, choose a page slug (your public URL becomes headshot.social/{slug}), location, and a short about.
    • Upload clear headshots you own. Use professional stills that show your face—this product is built for human photography, not generative substitutes.
    • Optional socials that the product supports today: Instagram and TikTok handles, IMDb name page, plus Reels stand-ins via Instagram Reel and YouTube watch/Shorts links.
  3. It’s free to publish

    • Publishing a public folio is free. There is no paid Premium plan, checkout, or Stripe billing yet.
    • We’ll announce Premium separately when billing is real. Ignore any older “trial / $50” talk you may see elsewhere.
  4. Publish your public page

    • Preview your folio, then publish. Your live page is headshot.social/{slug}.
    • The slug locks after the first publish, so pick a clean name you want to keep sharing.

Pro Tip: Refresh stills and the about line when your look or credits change—casting teams prefer an up-to-date one-pager.

How to Share Your Folio

Your published /{slug} page is the calling card. Share that URL—don’t wait on an on-platform casting marketplace (that’s held).

  1. Copy your public URL

    • Open your published folio and copy headshot.social/{slug} from the address bar, or use the share controls on the page.
    • On the public folio, the sticky share bar can copy the link, use the device share sheet, or open an email draft with your URL.
  2. Share via email

    • Paste the URL into a note to a casting director, agent, photographer, or collaborator.
    • A short line like “Here’s my one-page headshot” plus the link is enough—no app install required for the reader.
  3. Share from Instagram or TikTok

    • Put the URL in Stories, posts, or comments when someone asks for a headshot link.
    • Prefer Instagram and TikTok—those are the socials the folio is built to sit beside. You don’t need Twitter/X for this product path.
  4. Share for casting opportunities

    • For external casting calls, applications, and resumes, include your headshot.social/{slug} URL.
    • On-platform casting listings and “submit via Headshot Social” marketplace flows are not live yet—use your public link off-site instead.

Pro Tip: Keep one canonical /{slug} link everywhere so people always land on the same folio.

How to Display as a Link in Bio

A link in bio is the highest-leverage place for your folio. Instagram and TikTok are the primary fits:

  1. Add to Instagram

    • Open Instagram → profile → Edit Profile.
    • Paste your headshot.social/{slug} URL into the Website / links field and save.
  2. Add to TikTok

    • Open TikTok → Edit Profile → Website (available on many creator/business accounts).
    • Paste the same URL and save. Mention “link in bio for my headshot” in a few posts so people know to tap it.
  3. Add to IMDb or other bios (optional)

    • If you have an IMDb name page or another bio field that accepts a website, paste the same /{slug} URL.
    • You can also link IMDb back into your folio’s socials section so visitors see both.
  4. Keep the URL short and stable

    • headshot.social/{slug} is already short enough for most bio fields—no Bitly required.
    • Because the slug locks after first publish, set it once and reuse it across every bio.

Pro Tip: Pair the bio link with a clear CTA in posts (e.g., “Link in bio for my latest headshot”).
